What is the Old Salt Festival?
Old Salt Festival is a three‑day celebration of ranching, live fire cooking, music, land stewardship, and regenerative agriculture—set on the historic Mannix Ranch in Montana’s Blackfoot Valley.
For one long weekend around the summer Solstice, the ranch becomes a living, breathing ecosystem of ideas and experiences. Ranchers, chefs, artists, hunters, food lovers, conservationists, and musicians roll up their sleeves to swap stories and skills, and to dig into bold ideas about how we care for land, livestock, and each other.
Why does a meat co-op host a festival?
Because we believe in:
- Having real, face‑to‑face conversations with people who see the world differently
- Making room for celebration and joy in the middle of hard, meaningful work
- Eating good food as an act of gratitude and participation in the kind of world we want to help build
- Treating hope as a practical tool for long‑term stewardship and resilient rural communities
