Old Salt 2026 Festival Talk: Debt, Doubt and Coming Home to the Land
Cole Mannix gets candid with podcast interviewer Anna Sale
Listen in on an intimate interview with Cole Mannix tracing back the roots of Old Salt Co-Op - how it started, how he found the gumption and grit to take on the American food system, and how some hard-won lessons of winning and losing from Old Salt Co-Op can help us all work to make the world just a little bit better.
Anna Sale is the host of Death, Sex & Money, the long-running interview podcast from Slate about "the things we think a lot and need to talk about more." Anna grew up in West Virginia, and she and her husband Arthur Middleton, a wildlife ecologist, are raising their kids in Berkeley, California and Cody, Wyoming.
Anna is currently developing an interview series called People Trying, telling the stories of people who work close to land, water and nature as we all adapt to change. This interview with Cole is one of the first of her conversations with People Trying.
Sign up for the People Trying Substack and follow the series on Instagram and YouTube.
