About Andrew

Andrew finds his roots in Tom Miner Basin in Southwest Montana where his family has been in relationship with the land since the early 1950’s.  He grew up raising sheep and cattle on his family ranch and developed a deep appreciation for nature, the wild and the connection with animals.  Andrew began his undergraduate studies at Cornell University and after moving back to Montana, completed a double major bachelor's degree in livestock management and equine sciences at Montana State University.  Andrew began his work on the J Bar L Ranches in early 2009 as the Livestock Manager of a cow/calf, yearling and grassfat operation.  In 2018, Andrew accepted the role of manager of J Bar L Ranches.   Andrew and his wife Hilary have four children, Andrew, Elle, Emery, and Bergen.  As a family they find an incredible sense of wonder in the natural world and are committed to ranching in a way that conserves its integrity and pristine for generations to come.   Andrew, Hilary and their children love to be horseback together exploring in the mountains.
